2007

In October 7 “Annulliamo la Distanza” has celebrated his ten-years anniversary
In July the Presidency of Italian Republic has awarded “Annulliamo la Distanza” with a € 3,000.00 grant for its “worthy humanitarian activities on behalf of childhood in Eritrea”.
- Presentation of "Zero Intolerance", short film directed by Luigi Falorni (director of The Story of the Camel that Cries, nominated for an Oscar Award in 2005) to show to the public the issues of racism in the stadiums. The film had as testimonial the World Champions 2006 football player Luca Toni and was broadcasted both locally and nationally. In 2006 Annulliamo la Distanza is one out of organizations was awarded a financial grant for helping to decrease and control racism issues in soccer.
- Exhibition of works by Tuscan students participating to the concourse "A Look to Africa". In August the four-winners have taken part to humanitarian mission in Eritrea with Annualliamo la Distanza's volunteers. The project was born in 2006 and aims to foster discussions in at least ten Tuscan schools (high school level) from the knowledge of the scarcity of information for children regarding the political situation of the continent of Africa, the voluntary job, and diseases like HIV.
- Project "Pediatric Outpatient's Department" was born in order to implement the pediatric facilities of the Hospital "Haz Haz" in Asmara by expanding the pediatric impatient ward and constructing a new pediatric outpatient's department according to the regulations of the I.M.C.I. (Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses).
- Project "School on the Railway" in orderto restyle facilities of the Elementary School"Medre Babur" (= school on the railway). Works to build new sanitary toilets are to be started shortly.

In ten years we have reached the number of 207 children helped through the project of fostering adoptions (1997-2007).
2006
- Brought an ambulance to Asmara, which now services the Mekane Hiwet Pediatric Hospital
- Annulliamo la Distanza was presented at the Civitas Volunteer Festival in Padova, Italy, where it was commended for its work on Project "Florence-Asmara: km Zero" a project that has been marked among the Top 4 in the Volunteer Service Corps since 1999 through today.Financed by the Coordination Center for Volunteers in Tuscany (Cesvot) in 2004-2005 the Project "Florence-Asmara: 0km" helped a number of Eritrean children suffering from grave pathological issues. It was developed with the collaboration of physicians of the Pediatric Hospital "Meyer" of Florence.
- Piano concert of the international Jazz player Stefano Bollani on behalf of Annulliamo la Distanza Onlus.
2005
- The organization released its new video by Leonardo Bardazzi e Riccardo Sestini.
- Project "Family House" was born, harboring the intentions to provide sustenance and treatment to three Asmara HIV seropositive children.
- Project "Selamat" (Selamat translates as "Welcome back") was born after the end of Project "Florence-Asmara: 0km".Under the Project "Selamat" eight children were treated for free at the Meyer and Careggi Hospitals of Florence.
- Our organization received financial support via the Canadian Island School in Florence.
- Plans and funding for the construction of a day-care center in the rural village Adi Guubo' (50 miles away from Asmara) are formed (Project "Kindgardern").
2004
- An oxygen system was also installed in the Mekane Hiwet Hospital
- We participated in the "Africa in my heart" campaign/festival in Rome.
- The Emilia-Romana branch of Annulliamo la Distanza helped a young, pregnant Eritrean woman, who was also taken to Parma for further assistance.The branch also helped an Eritrean child with acute leukemia, bringing him and his father to Italy.
- The first edition of our magazine (complete with photos, objectives, budgets, proposals, and more) was published.
- The new Emergency Room Department was fully completed at Mekane Hiwet Hospital. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of Annulliamo la Distanza, the Eritrean Minister of Health, the Pediatric Hospital Meyer, the Tuscan Region.
2003
- Visit with the Eritrean Minister of Health and the Director of International Correspondence of the Meyer Pediatric Hospital of Florence.
- Cafeteria opened at the Hospital Mekane Hiwet for the mothers of recovering children.
- Through the efforts of numerous doctors of Florence, the Meyer Hospital of Florence and the Mekane Hiwet Hospital of Asmara officially became sister hospitals, furthering the initiative to aid Eritrean children.
- Hosted the "Viola Day" with the support of the Municipality of Florence, the Pediatric Hospital Meyer, ACF Fiorentina, the associations of ACF Fiorentina supporters. We organized a broad fund-raising at the Florence's stadium to further the initiatives of Project "Adopt a Children's Hospital in Eritrea."
2002
- Meeting held with the Director of Florence's Meyer Hospital to serve as the sister hospital/organization of Mekane Hiwet Hospital in Asmara.
- First trip to Ethiopia, where we assisted the International Red Cross in locating two deported children.
- Amplification of Project "School" in Eritrea.
2001
- Hosted a convention with the University of Florence and Middlebury College (U.S.A.), where our internship program began.
- Produced an advertisement (aired/televised both locally and nationally) with the help of the famous ACFiorenina football-player Manuel Rui Costa to promote the Project "Family-House."
- Publication of the book The Eritrean Dream by Cristiano Pistoresi.
- Preliminary collaboration with the Eritrean Minister of Health and the Mekane Hiwet Pediatric Hospital.
2000
- Participation in the "May Musical" in Florence.
- Organization of a "Children's Festival" in Florence.
1999
- Organization registered with the Tuscan Association of Volunteers.
- Visits to Eritrea to discuss plans with government officials concerning the fulfillment of Project "Family House" for orphaned children; visit adopted children and their families; save two children from critical illness.
1998
- Second trip to Eritrea: scholastic programs were formally coordinated (Project "School")
- The association presented itself and its objectives to the Eritrean Community in Tuscany and to the Eritrean Ambassador in Rome.
1997
- The organization was born on October 7th ! Our ambitions: better sanitary conditions, better education, and a better life quality of children in Eritrea, Africa.
- Beginning of a program of fostering adoptions of Eritrean children (Project "Adoptions").
- Travel to Eritrea to meet with families, schools, and pediatricians, thus jump-starting the program's initiatives.
